Art of Title
Art of the Title is about the Titles in a film which in some way reveal the storyline, the genre and shows us the actors’ names who will be featured in the film. I’m going to research 3 different film opening sequences to show the difference they set in each individual genre.
Edge of the City has an upbeat music at the start setting up the scene when the men is running and jumping across this adds the sense of that the character is in a rush to not miss his boat, the music then slows down as it reveals the titles, drums and violins are played in the background and a trumpet which helps the opening sequence to set a tone of the film.
This shot reveals the title of the sequence, has the productions’ company name and shows us a man lightning a cigarette in the foreground with the city being in the background, this shot makes the audience pay more attention to the buildings at the back then to the man smoking. The music becomes more relaxing and peaceful when the title is shown
Star Trek: Discovery has a spacey sound effect at the beginning with horns joining in and then follows a fast-pace settings with violins/horns/chour/, this sets a futuristic genre of what the film is about.

For example, try to identify the conventions of an opening sequence and how these are used. For expalt the titles - what information is included in each of the sequnces. How are the titles written? DO any colours dominate the screen. What order do stars and cast members appear in? What is typical of an opening scene and what the audience expect to see..Use images from art of the title to illustrate the points you want to make.
